I attempt to overcome the chasm, the divide, between many philosophical traditions. Maintaining traditions that don't talk to any other traditions makes thinking stale.

Cogburn's Observation about Leiterism
Cogburn's sentiments are wholly real, and unfortunate.
I think that there is a prejudgment about the quality of scholarship coming from top Gourmet report schools as compared to other programs to the point that this promotes a skewed vision of the work produced by individuals. The top Gourmet report candidates might be really bad and you can, as Cogburn suggests, be the best from, say, St. Louis University. The SLU candidate is better by far, and I've seen this firsthand. It's unfortunate because there are really underrated programs that are awesome in producing scholar-teachers of philosophy that rival top programs.
